The Author
Ben Klemens is a Nonresident Fellow at the Brookings Institution's Center on Social and Economic Dynamics, where he has worked on models of smoking among Junior High students, migration, and terrorism. He has also written models and statistical analyses for the Chief Economist of the FCC, the World Bank, and the National Institute of Mental Health. He briefly taught in the Economics Department at Johns Hopkins University.

He has his PhD in Social Sciences from Caltech, and has experience with more statistics/math packages than he cares to count, including several years working with R and Mathematica.
